Alienware Introduces Striking Hexagonal Area 51 Computer
Dell Alienware is working on a desktop system with a unique hexagonal housing, which should not only attract attention, but also bring some improvements in the field of airflow. The new Area 51 computer will be released in October.
Alienware often releases desktops and laptops with striking housings, but with the Area 51, the Dell subsidiary goes one step further than usual. The housing has six sides and is tapered at the top on both sides. According to Alienware, one of the advantages of this is that the system can be placed against a wall, without hindering the dissipation of heat. According to the manufacturer, the design also provides easier access to the parts.
One of the components is a Core i7 hexacore or octocore from Intel’s Haswell-E generation released Friday, which is overclocked and liquid cooled by default. The processor is combined with Intel’s X99 chipset and four-channel DDR4 2133MHz memory. The housing can also contain up to four graphics cards and five storage media, while a psu with a maximum output of 1.5 kW should provide sufficient energy.
Dell Alienware has not yet announced the prices of the various configurations, but the Area 51 should be released in October.
