Dell subsidiary Alienware announces the Aurora R16 desktop. The variant with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 13700F CPU and an RTX 4070 GPU has a suggested retail price of $1,750. No euro prices have been announced yet. The R16 PCs will be available from August 8.

Alienware equips the Aurora R16 with a water-cooled twelfth or thirteenth generation Intel processor, but for now the company only mentions the Intel Core i7 13700F. Also, of the RTX 40 series, only the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 is mentioned. The company says that initially only ‘popular configurations’ will be released. The hardware manufacturer wants to incorporate flagship components into the Aurora R16 before the end of the year. This probably refers to the RTX 4090 and a variant of the Core i9 13900, since the R15 also had all these components. The company has not officially announced any other configurations yet.

Furthermore, Alienware announces that all desktops within the Aurora R16 series support a maximum of 64GB DDR5 memory with a speed of 5200MT/s. Customers can choose from a 500W and 1000W PSU. There is also room for up to two 4TB SSDs and possibly a 1TB HDD. The desktop supports an internet connection via 2.5Gb/s Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.

As for the appearance of the Aurora R16, Alienware goes for a slightly more conventional design than before; the predecessor was slightly tilted as standard, while the new variant is rectangular again. According to the company, the internal volume has remained the same, but the total space occupied by the desktop has decreased by 40 percent. The company claims that the updated housing has improved airflow. In the front panel, the brand incorporated RGB lighting around the air supply on the side, which can be set via the Alienware Command Center software. The Alienware logo also features this lighting.
