Alibaba is working on AI tool to compete with ChatGPT
Chinese tech giant Alibaba is working on an AI tool to compete with ChatGPT. The company announced this this week. Alibaba’s tool is currently being tested by employees. It’s not known when the company’s ChatGPT competitor is due for an official release.
Alibaba writes in a statement that the company is currently working on an AI bot in response to ChatGPT, write CNBC, among others and news agency Reuters. The company also shares few concrete details. Alibaba does claim that it has been working on generative AI since 2017 and has also been working with large AI language models for some time. The company says it is currently conducting internal testing with its ChatGPT competitor.
However, it is not known when exactly the Chinese tech giant’s AI tool should appear. Alibaba also does not state how it intends to use its tool. The company is best known for its online shopping platforms such as Aliexpress, in addition to its work in cloud computing.
Alibaba aligns itself with several other large tech companies. Multiple tech giants are working on an answer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that allows users to have full conversations and is capable of answering follow-up questions. For example, Google is working on Bard, a ChatGPT competitor for its search engine that is based on the LaMDA model. Microsoft, in turn, invested billions in OpenAI and announced this week that it will integrate the company’s ChatGPT-like AI model into Bing and Edge.
