Ajax provides players with vests with transponders during training sessions to obtain data on distances and speed, among other things. Together with HPE, the club then analyzes the data using AI.

According to Ajax and HPE, the transponders in the vests are ‘connected to the field’ and can thus determine distances, speed and field position. HPE and Ajax then combine the measurement data with video images. The result is displayed on a dashboard on smartphones and laptops of the technical staff. HPE applies artificial intelligence in the analysis, although it is not immediately clear from the press release how AI is used.

The project is part of a larger contract between HPE and Ajax. The company will provide the technical infrastructure for the football club.
