AirTag firmware update: this is how you check if you have the latest version
Every now and then, Apple releases an AirTag firmware update. Adds new features or improves old features. Such an update appeared yesterday. But how can you update your AirTags?
What’s new?
As for the features or bug fixes of the latest update, we are in the dark. Apple does not provide the AirTag firmware update with release notes. In fact, the update is not even announced. Perhaps AirTag users will notice changes in the use of their tracker in the coming days, we’ll have to wait and see.
The only thing that is clear at this point is that a new version is out with a new version number. The latest version number is firmware 1.0.291. The previous one was 1.0.276.
AirTag update firmware: how to update AirTags?
So there is a new AirTag update. Firmware like this will be installed automatically. Unfortunately, it is not possible to manually update the AirTags yourself, as is possible with an iOS update. It is mainly a matter of patience, and then it will happen automatically. Although – of course… There are some things to keep in mind.
- The AirTag must be linked to your iPhone.
- The AirTag should be near your iPhone. That may sound logical, but maybe your AirTag is standard in your backpack or suitcase in the attic. So bring him along.
So it is not possible to actively update. However, you can easily check whether you have the latest version.
Check if you have the latest version
This way you can check whether you already have the latest version of the firmware on your AirTags.
- Open the Find My app.
- Go to the ‘Objects’ tab.
- Tap the AirTag on the screen.
- Tap the battery icon.
- The battery icon changes. The serial number appears with the firmware below it.
The latest version number is firmware 1.0.291. Isn’t that there? Then keep your AirTags close to your iPhone.
