AirPods Pro 2: New Features Are Finally Known (But There’s Bad News Too)
A new generation of AirPods Pro will appear next year. Apple’s more advanced earbuds will then become a bit smarter, if we are to believe the well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
AirPods Pro 2: Health Features
According to Kuo, the second generation of the AirPods Pro will have innovative features, especially in the area of health. He talks about ‘health management and tracking’, but does not specify what that means. Kuo’s story ties into previous rumors talking about AirPods Pro with motion sensors for fitness tracking. So maybe we should look in that direction.
The design of the AirPods Pro is also being overhauled. The stems are already shorter than those of the regular AirPods, but will soon disappear completely. They are therefore quite similar to the Beats Studio Buds, for example. The regular AirPods are also changing: they will look just like the current AirPods Pro.
And now for the bad news: for the AirPods Pro you have to wait until next year – which is a lot later than previously assumed. We may see the new regular AirPods appear this year.
Boost for AirPods sales
Kuo goes on to say that demand for AirPods is currently lower than expected. He adjusts his expectation from 75-85 million copies sold to 70 to 75 million. Kuo thinks that the AirPods Pro with the new innovative features will give sales a huge boost next year and that about 100 million will be sold.
