Agent pleads guilty to theft of Bitcoins from Silk Road

An American agent who embezzled bitcoins from the trading place during an investigation into the rolled-up Silk Road has pleaded guilty. A second agent who would have stolen bitcoins in a different way continues to deny.

Agent Shaun Bridges, who works as a forensic expert with the Secret Service, has admitted to stealing bitcoins worth about $820,000, or 722,000 euros, from the bitcoin stock of Silk Road, the anonymous marketplace, according to the American justice system. of Ross Ulbricht, who was sentenced to life in prison.

Bridges is said to have obtained passwords from a former Silk Road employee and then transfer bitcoins to his own wallet. Via the now defunct Mt. Gox, he would have the bitcoins paid in dollars, Bloomberg reports. Because of the confession, the officer can expect a lower sentence.

A second agent suspected of stealing bitcoins from the remains of Silk Road, Carl Force, continues to deny. The former DEA agent is alleged to have extorted Ulbricht and then transferred bitcoins worth $235,000 to a bank account in Panama. He is also alleged to have had a bitcoin company in which he had a financial interest checked for any illegal activities without authorization. Both cases have yet to be brought to court separately.
