Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Gets Lords of the West DLC on January 26
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will get its first official expansion, Lords of the West, on January 26. The DLC offers, among other things, new campaigns and two entirely new civilizations.
The developers write on the official Age of Empires website that the two new civilizations are the Burgundians and the Sicilians. Both new civilizations have their own unique technologies and units. Sixteen new achievements will also be available via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
In addition, the Lords of the West DLC adds three new campaigns to the base game, which are fully voiced. The fighting will take place in Western Europe and the Mediterranean. One of the three campaigns revolves around Britain’s King Edward Longshanks and will take place in England, Wales and Scotland. The other campaigns revolve around the Sicilians and the Burgundians.
Lords of the West will be available on January 26 in the Windows Store and on Steam, although the DLC can already be pre-ordered for 10 euros. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition was released on November 14, 2019 and is a polished version of Age of Empires II, completed with four new factions, three new campaigns, support for a 4k render, all expansions and other additions and improvements. This base game is also part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC. The new DLC will not be free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, but Lords of the West will be a euro cheaper for them.
