Adobe releases ruler and stylus for iPad – update

Adobe released hardware for the first time. The creator of applications like Photoshop and Illustrator has created a stylus and ruler for use with its iPad apps. Adobe also updates many applications in its Creative Cloud.

The stylus is called Adobe Ink, while the ruler has been given the name Slide. The intent is to allow users to draw straight lines with the stylus across their iPad’s screen using the ruler. Users can use the hardware in conjunction with Adobe’s applications for iPad, such as Sketch, Line, and Lightroom. The stylus is pressure sensitive. The stylus and ruler combo, which Adobe announced last September, costs $199. The applications are free.

Major additions to Creative Cloud’s fourteen desktop applications include the Blur Gallery added in Photoshop; this gives the opportunity to additionally stimulate movement in photos. Photoshop also now has an option to adjust the perspective on a specific part of an image, without affecting the rest of the image. Also, the interaction with laptops that have a touchscreen have been improved and the necessary adjustments have been made to make the program run faster.

The update gives Illustrator the ability to turn rectangles into more complex shapes in just a few clicks. The rendering of vector graphics would also be faster and a special layout has been added that makes it easier for users to create digital books. Adobe Muse has received 64bit support and is said to make images sharper.

After Effects has been modified so that applications of the program play more smoothly in Premiere Pro. According to Adobe, synchronization between the two programs has been improved, reducing the time it takes to complete projects using both programs. In addition, a subscription for photographers to Creative Cloud has been added for ten dollars per month. Adobe claims to have 2.3 million Creative Cloud subscribers.
