Adobe lets Photoshop users collaborate on the same file asynchronously
Adobe introduces the Invite to Edit feature, which allows Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fresco users to invite other users to edit a file together. The users cannot edit a file at the same time, but separately.
With Invite to Edit, a file is saved as a cloud document on Adobe’s servers, Adobe writes. Users can then invite each other by email. In the Members section, users can see who has access to the document. Users can choose to opt out of a shared document, or to remove other users. Shared documents appear in the Creative Cloud app from where they can be accessed.
The function allows multiple users to collaborate on a single file, without having to continuously email the file. Simultaneous collaboration is not possible with the function. The Invite to Edit function is only available for desktop and iPad with Photoshop and Illustrator; Fresco users can also collaborate via iPhones.
Adobe also announced that it is working on a preset sync function for Photoshop. With Preset Syncing, the personalized brushes, swatches, gradients, patterns, styles and shapes are saved and shared with logged in devices. Users can disable this feature if they wish. The function only works for the desktop version of Photoshop for now, synchronized brushes will come to the iPad version later.
