Adobe announces a free version of Photoshop. This is the web version of the photo editing program. It is not yet known when the free version will be available. At this time, only Canadian users have access.

Opposite The Verge says an Adobe spokesperson that the web version of Photoshop will have a ‘freemium’ revenue model. The idea is that the free version doesn’t include all the advanced features, only the core features of Photoshop are free to use. It is not yet clear which core functions are involved exactly.

According to Adobe, the free web version lets users try Photoshop first. You have to pay for the full version of Photoshop. This version can also only be used in the browser. Those who want to install the program on their computer will also have to pay.

The web version of Photoshop was already available to Creative Cloud subscribers. The photo editing program received a web version in October, together with Illustrator. Projects can also be shared with customers or other parties via the web version, without requiring a subscription to Creative Cloud themselves. The projects can then only be viewed.
