Adobe adds support for more raw formats to Lightroom for Android

Adobe has added support for more raw formats to Lightroom for Android. Users can import photos from the camera via USB-on-the-go and edit them in Adobe’s Lightroom app.

The update is now live in the Play Store and mentions that the service works with usb-otg and with Adobe’s web storage, allowing users on Android to view edited photos on other platforms and possibly edit them further. This service requires a subscription.

After the update, the Android version of Lightroom supports the same formats as the versions of the desktop program, which Adobe has listed online. Lightroom for Android already supported dng files, but now the program can also handle .cr2, .nef, .orf, .rw2, and .raw, among others.

Raw files allow users to perform more and more detailed photo editing than is possible with compressed jpg files. If the Android device Lightroom runs on also supports raw photography, Lightroom can edit those images as well.
