The creator of the popular Flappy Bird, whose original version was pulled from the app stores because the game was said to be too addictive, has released a new version with multiplayer mode. Remarkably, the game is only available in the Amazon Appstore.

The creator, Dong Nguyen, released the new version of the game Friday through the Amazon Appstore for Android. The free game runs on Amazon’s Fire TV platform and includes new obstacles, such as ghosts. The game is not available via the App Store and Google Play and it is not yet clear whether this will happen in the long term.

The game, now known as Flappy Birds Family, can be played on the Fire TV with a remote control. In addition, the game features new elements, such as a multiplayer mode. It is then possible to play the game with two people at the same time. The game can only be installed on Android 3.0 and above.

With the release of the game, Nguyen is fulfilling an earlier promise in May, after removing Flappy Bird from the app stores in February. The game had become extremely popular in a short time, but according to the Vietnamese developer, it would be too addictive. He also reportedly felt guilty about the addictive aspect of the game; in his own words, he used to be addicted to games.
