Adata shows PCIe 5.0 SSD with built-in fan
The Taiwanese memory manufacturer Adata has presented a PCIe 5.0 SSD at CES that has both a heatsink and a built-in fan. The SSD achieves a sequential read speed of 14GB/s. The sequential write speeds are 12GB/s.
The SSD has a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and uses the NVMe 2.0 protocol. It also uses the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller that Adata has also used for previous prototypes of PCIe 5.0 SSDs. According to Hardware Info will the ssd use 3d nand tlc memory. 3D NAND uses chips with stacked layers.
Promotional material states that the PCIe 5.0 SSD has both a heatsink and a fan to dissipate heat. It is unclear how many rotations per minute the fan can run at maximum. Patriot Memory, another memory manufacturer, also showed at CES shown a PCIe 5.0 SSD which has similar active cooling. Adata has not yet announced when and for what prices the PCIe 5.0 SSD will be sold. Hardware Info reports that the SSD will be available in versions up to 8TB.
