Adapter to use PlayStation VR2 on PC will be available from August 7
The PlayStation VR2 headset can be connected to a PC from August 7 to access SteamVR games. Sony will make the necessary adapter available from August 7. From that day on, players can get started with games such as Half-Life: Alyx and Fallout 4 VR.
The PS VR2 adapter will be available on August 7 for $60. Players require a DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4. Also reports Sony that a Steam account is required. Getting started with the PlayStation VR2 headset on PC requires a build that meets the minimum requirements.
To use the PlayStation VR2 glasses on a PC, a system with at least an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor with Zen 2 architecture or newer is required. The video card must be an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or newer with Turing architecture or newer. AMD GPUs include at least a Radeon RX 5500 XT or an RX 6500XT. In addition, at least 8GB of RAM is required and the system must have at least Bluetooth 4.0.
Many important features, such as HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, are not available on PC. Sony's Tempest 3D Audio technology is also not present on PC. Instead, SteamVR's audio technology is used. There is still a rumble in the controllers and the VR glasses continue to display 4k images (2000×2040 pixels per eye). The 110-degree field of view also remains the same.
With the adapter and a DisplayPort cable, the PlayStation VR2 glasses can be connected to a PC. Users need to download the PlayStation VR2 app and SteamVR app to adjust the settings for the PS VR2 on PC. It is possible, among other things, to set the playing area, start a game and buy games. The adapter is available at 'selected stores' and via PlayStation Direct.
