Activision and developer Infinity Ward have released some images and details for the upcoming new playing field of Call of Duty: Warzone 2. An earlier teaser already pointed to a Japanese setting and this is confirmed by the first screenshots.

The Call of Duty Twitter account has released several images of the new playing field called Ashika Island. The publisher explains that the map will be used for two different game modes: DMZ and Resurgence. The new map will be available from February 15, the date on which the second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is released. The free-to-play Warzone 2 is part of the game.

In DMZ it is not about being the last one standing on the playing field as usual, but about carrying out missions and collecting valuable loot. Resurgence was already present in the original Warzone and differs from the regular battle royale mode in the sense that fewer players are allowed and there is no gulag. Players who are felled can return to the battlefield after a while, provided at least one teammate is alive.
