Activision has indicated in its 2015 annual figures that it will release the successor to Destiny in 2017. In addition, a new Call of Duty game will be released between October and December. Infinity Ward, the studio responsible for the Modern Warfare series, will develop it.

Information about the successor to Destiny has already leaked out. A September 2016 release date was first revealed. This was then postponed again to an unknown date, according to other sources. However, a live team at Bungie would fill the year 2016 with content updates for the first person shooter. This information now appears to have been confirmed by Activision itself. According to the publisher, there will be a major expansion for Destiny in 2016 and a full sequel in 2017.

Activision also confirmed that Infinity Ward will be making Call of Duty for 2016. Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer take turns to create the annual Call of Duty game. Infinity Ward is responsible for both the Modern Warfare series and Ghosts.

In addition, the publisher announced that it will release a new Skylanders game in 2016, along with a new television program based around the game’s characters, Skylanders Academy. This while the publisher sold less of its Skylanders games and toys. This is probably due to the growing popularity of other figurines such as Nintendo’s Amiibo and Disney Infinity and the growing popularity of games for smartphones. The Skylanders series consists of games primarily intended for children and are action-adventure platformers. Placing physical figures on a platform’s reader adds the character the figure represents to the game.

The publisher also says it will focus on esports, including the acquisition of Major League Gaming. It also cites the acquisition of King Digital Entertainment, the company behind Candy Crush Saga, as a way to continue to grow into multiple platforms and reach a wider audience. In terms of turnover, the studio achieved slightly more in 2015 than the year before. The total turnover is 4.6 billion dollars, converted about 4.1 billion euros.
