Activision Enables Microtransactions for Black Ops 4
Activision has added COD Points, the in-game currency of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, to the PlayStation 4 version of the game. The other versions will follow next week. The arrival of microtransactions has been criticized.
Players can use COD Points to obtain additional Nebulium Plasma in Zombies, accelerate eligibility for the cosmetic Black Market Tiers, and place Special Orders in the Black Market. Special Orders are new to the Black Market. Players can purchase these with COD Point to earn new sets of cosmetic items, such as uniforms, through challenges.
Activision and Treyarch announce Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update adding COD Point on Reddit. The update also provides stability improvements. Players immediately criticized the microtransactions on Reddit. They are annoyed by the amount of hours that must be played for progression. Progress would be so slow that players would have to pay, they say.
In addition, they point out that the amounts can add up considerably, with a game where they have already spent a lot of money on purchase, with a paid Season Pass. There is also criticism of the Special Orders because of the paid challenges and the meager items that are unlocked.
