The development of the successor to the million-dollar game Destiny has already started. Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg made the announcement during the statement of the quarterly results of Activision Blizzard. The original of the game already has over 9.5 million registered players.

Hundreds of millions of euros have been invested in the Destiny project. That has translated into a high number of players, because in less than two months the game has collected more than 9.5 million registered users. It would be the largest launch of a new game franchise in history as far as users are concerned. In addition to new expansion packs that developer Bungie is working on, a successor to Destiny is already in the works, according to Hirshberg, he said when discussing the quarterly figures. The Activision CEO did not mention a time frame in which the game will be released.

World of Warcraft has approximately 7.4 million subscribers, which means that, after a period of stagnation, the number of users is again on the rise. That number is likely to rise even further with a view to the introduction of Warlords of Draenor. The expansion pack will be released on November 13.

In the past quarter a turnover of 1.17 billion dollars was achieved, converted approximately 930 million euros. That amount was a record turnover for Activision Blizzard. In the current quarter, the company still has trumps up its sleeve with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.
