Tony Hawk and Activision are working on new skateboarding games for consoles and mobile. The games are expected to be released next year, but an exact release date has not been announced.
hawk made announced via Twitter that new games will be released. Activision confirmed the news to Polygon, but a spokesperson declined to provide further details. The games would in any case appear for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and possibly also for the Wii U.
The announcement comes after Activision introduced Tony Hawk’s Shred Session earlier this year. The free skate game for iOS and Android was supposed to be released last summer, but it didn’t. According to Hawk has now even indefinitely halted development of the game. Why is not clear.
In Shred Session, the characters move automatically. Players also have to change lanes to avoid obstacles or to make use of the opportunities the environment offers them, a preview showed. That makes Shred Sessions unlike any previous Tony Hawk game, where gamers were always free to choose which way to go. The last franchise game to be released is Tony Hawk: Shred in 2009.
