Activision has announced that it plans to unveil the new game in the Call of Duty series next Wednesday. Previously released material indicated that the game would take place during World War II, which is confirmed by the announcement.

For the time being, the announcement page only shows an image with a clock counting down to Wednesday evening. The title page confirms the theme of the new game in the series. At the end of March, designs of the game’s packaging and promotional material already appeared online, from which the theme could be derived. Activision is developing the announced game together with Sledgehammer Games, which is one of the studios working on the Call of Duty series. Other studios include Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

The new game, titled Call of Duty: WWII, follows Infinite Warfare that Infinity Ward and Activision presented last year. The next game in the series isn’t the first game set during World War II. This was also true for the first CoD game and several subsequent titles. Earlier, Activision said this year’s game would “return to its origins.”

At the current announcement, Activision does not state a planned release date or provide any details about the platforms the game will be released on.
