Acer’s Predator 21 X laptop gets 21-inch curved screen and two GTX 1080 GPUs
At the IFA, Acer presented the Predator 21 X. It is a gaming laptop with a curved 21″ screen, which is equipped with two GTX 1080 GPUs. The numerical keyboard can be reversed and then functions as a touchpad.
The 21″ screen in the Acer Predator 21 X has a 21:9 ratio and a resolution of 2560×1080 pixels. Acer uses an IPS panel, which has G-Sync support. The screen is controlled by two Nvidia GTX 1080 GPUs.
Acer has built in eye tracking hardware from Tobii. It can be used in a number of games, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The gaming laptop’s mechanical keyboard features Cherry MX switches. The numerical part has no mechanical switches, but can be turned around in its entirety and then acts as a touchpad.
According to Acer, the Predator 21 X will be equipped with processors of the Intel Kaby Lake generation. The manufacturer does not yet disclose details about this, because Intel itself has not yet provided information about the powerful variants of the Kaby Lake CPUs for laptops. Four speakers and two subwoofers are concealed in the housing. To cool the intestines, the manufacturer uses five fans, including three thin ones, which, according to Acer, are made of metal.
Acer has not yet announced when the gaming laptop will be released and what the device will cost. Since the Predator 21 X will be equipped with Kaby Lake CPUs, it is expected that it will be several months before the device is available.
Acer also presents three monitors in the Predator series, all of which are equipped with the Tobii eye-tracking hardware. The Predator Z271T is a curved 27″ model with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The screen will be on the market in October for a suggested retail price of 799 euros.
The XB271HUT is a 27″ monitor with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 165Hz. This screen will cost 899 euros and will be on the market in December. There will also be a smaller 24.5″ variant, the XB251HQT, with full HD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. It is not yet known when that monitor will appear and what this model will cost.
