Acer releases new Android and Windows tablets
Acer has expanded its range of tablets with three new models. It concerns the Iconia Tab 8 W with Windows 8.1 With Bing and the Android 4.4 models Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia One 8. All models should be available in October.
The Windows model is one of the first tablets to come out with Windows 8.1 With Bing. This cheaper version of the operating system is aimed at manufacturers who want to bring low-cost devices to the market. The difference with the conventional Windows version is that Internet Explorer is set up with Bing as the default search engine, something that users can change, though. The tablet comes with a free annual subscription to Office 365.
The Iconia Tab 8 W also features an Atom Z3735G processor from Intel, which has four cores and a clock speed of 1.33GHz. The 8″ screen has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels and Acer claims the battery can last for about eight hours, but it’s unclear how this applies to use. There’s a camera on the front and back, but Acer mentions not how many megapixels these have.
The Iconia tablets Tab 10 and One 8 both run on Android 4.4. The screen diagonal is 10″ and 8″, respectively, with a resolution of 1920×1080 and 1280×800 pixels. An unspecified quad-core soc from MediaTek is built into the housing of the Tab 10, while the One 8 has to make do with the Z3735G that also runs in the Tab 8 W.
According to the manufacturer, the Iconia Tab 10 will be released in Europe this month, for a price of 199 euros. The other two models will be on the market in October and also have the same price at 149 euros.
