Acer presents monitor with local dimming and OLED game screen with 4k resolution
Acer presented three new game monitors at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. It concerns screens of 32 and 37.5 inches, and a 4k display of 55 inches. The monitors are in the Predator range and support Nvidia’s G-Sync.
The new monitors were announced at this week’s tech show in Las Vegas. The smallest monitor is the Predator X32. It has a UHD resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, with a screen brightness of 1440 cd/m², and uses local dimming. The monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz and a viewing angle of 178 degrees on an IPS panel and has support for Nvidia’s G-Sync. There are three HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 connection and four USB 3.0 ports on the monitor. The Predator X32 will be released in Europe in the second quarter of this year for 3,299 euros.
The Predator X38 is slightly larger than the X32, but has a curved screen in addition to the larger size. The uwqhd+ display has a resolution of 3840×1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 175Hz when overclocked. In that case, the monitor also has a response time of 1ms. The monitor has a curvature of 2300R. The X38 will cost 2199 euros.
Acer is also releasing a much larger monitor, with a 55-inch diagonal. It is a 4K OLED screen with a screen brightness of 400 cd/m². This CG552K monitor has a variable refresh rate that is up to 120Hz, with a response time of 0.5 milliseconds and is compatible with Adaptive Sync. Acer says it also wants to make the monitor compatible with G-Sync, but the device still needs to be certified. The monitor has a presence sensor that allows it to automatically enter power saving mode. There are three HDMI 2.0 ports and two DisplayPort 1.4 ports on the back, and a USB-C port. The CG522K will be released in Europe in the third quarter for 2699 euros.
