Acer launches Aspire Switch 12S

Acer has announced a new hybrid in its Aspire Switch series: the 12 S. The combination of tablet and laptop runs on Windows 10 and can use Continuum, which means that the Switch 12 S can also be used as a ‘desktop’.

The Switch 12 S has a 12.5″ screen, the resolution of which varies by model. There is a choice of a screen of 3840×2160 and one of 1920×1080 pixels. The resolution is not the only thing in which the models can differ. According to Acer, the first models 4 and 8GB ram and there is a choice of 128 and 256GB ssd storage.Acer about the processor only let us know that the tablets use the sixth generation Intel Core M processors.

Via Acer’s Snap Hinge it is possible to connect the tablet to the keyboard, but for the 12 S it is also possible to place the tablet on a dock thanks to the USB-c connection. According to Acer, thanks to the use of thunderbolt 3 with the usb-c connector, it is possible to combine the 12 S with the Acer Graphics Dock. This dock is supposed to improve the tablet’s performance, but Acer doesn’t say exactly what it adds.

Furthermore, the Switch 12 S has two USB 3.0 ports, a camera on the front with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and an Intel RealSense R200 camera on the back. With this camera it is possible to scan and generate 3D images. The hybrid will be available in Europe from February and prices start at 1,199 euros.
