Acer announced two new Android tablets in the Iconia series on Thursday. The Iconia One 8, which comes with a stylus, and the Education-oriented Iconia Tab 10, both feature Intel Atom quad-core socs and run Android 5.0.

The Acer Iconia One 8 B1-820 offers an 8″ IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. According to Acer, the screen is equipped with so-called Precision Plus technology that would improve the input with the supplied stylus. In addition to an unspecified quad-core Atom-soc, there is 1GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal flash storage.

There is a 5-megapixel camera on the back, while a 3-megapixel camera is placed on the front. The tablet runs on Android 5.0 and has Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS in addition to WiFi. The tablet weighs 355 grams, is 9.5 mm thick and offers a battery life of up to 8.5 hours. The Iconia One 8 B1-820, which will be available in various color combinations, will be available from July for 179 euros.

The Iconia Tab 10 offers a 10.1″ full-HD screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The quad-core Intel Atom-soc is accompanied by 2GB of RAM. The storage capacity is 16, 32 or 64GB. Bluetooth 4.0 is available, as well as wifi and nfc.

According to Acer, the Tab 10 is primarily intended for education, partly because it participates in the Google Education program and some specific Iconia applications for educational purposes that Acer has added to the Android 5.0 firmware under the name EZ. The battery would last about 5 hours. The 540 gram tablet will be on the market next month and will cost 299 euros.
