Acer announces Liquid X1 smartphone with octacore soc
Acer has announced the Liquid X1, the manufacturer’s first smartphone with octacore-soc. Furthermore, the device has a 5.7″ screen and Acer plans to launch it in the third quarter of this year.
According to the manufacturer, it is an octacore SOC with a clock speed of 1.7GHz. However, it is not clear which model it is exactly, but it is likely that Acer has teamed up with MediaTek, with the MT6592, with eight Cortex A7 cores, seeming the most plausible. Furthermore, Acer has announced that the screen has a diagonal of 5.7″ with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
With the Liquid X1, users can connect to LTE networks, with a maximum speed of up to 150Mbit/s. For photos, a 13-megapixel camera is built-in, which, according to the manufacturer, can focus within 0.3 seconds. There is 2GB of ram on board and Wi-Fi 802.11n is supported. The 16GB storage memory can be expanded with micro SD cards.
Acer will make the Liquid X1 available in the third quarter of this year, but it is still unclear for which countries a release is planned. A price is not yet clear.
Acer has already announced four new devices in the Liquid series, with the Jade being the most high-end. Apart from the fact that the smartphone has a 5″ IPS panel with HD resolution and a 13-megapixel camera, little is known yet. Acer also announced its first smartwatch with the Liquid Leap and a new member is coming with the Tab 8 the Iconia tablet series.
