ABN Amro stops supporting Windows Phone

ABN Amro warns users that its app for Windows Phone can no longer be used from June. From that moment on, iOS and Android are the only two operating systems that the bank still supports with an app.

According to ABN Amro, the Windows Phone app is outdated. Where the bank regularly updates the app for iOS and Android with updates, the bank claims that it cannot do this for Microsoft’s mobile operating system. “In the latest versions of the app, we take into account new technical possibilities of iOS and Android. Unfortunately, we cannot offer these possibilities for Windows Phone.”

Those who want to continue to use the ABN Amro mobile banking app must switch to iOS or Android, according to the bank ‘the two most used operating systems’. Alternatively, the company redirects users to online banking through the site.

ING still has an app for Windows Phone, but users complain that the functionality is lagging behind that of Android and iOS. Rabobank also has an app for Windows Phone.
