A-Data releases waterproof hard drive
Memory manufacturer A-Data has released a hard drive that is guaranteed to work after being submerged one meter deep in water for 30 minutes. The hard drive can also take a beating and has a USB connection.
The HDD SH93 is a so-called ruggedized HDD, which can get wet without any problems and survives a fall of more than one meter. First, the hard drive could be submerged in water for half an hour at a depth of one meter, after which it will still be working. In addition, the hard disk also meets the ‘drop test’ according to the military standard MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5. According to the standard, it should be able to drop the item from 122cm high in 26 possible ways and still be fully functional afterwards.
The hard drive is available with capacities of 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB and has a USB interface. If the extra sturdy hard drive does fail, there is still a warranty period of three years. What the HDD should cost and when it will be for sale is not yet known.
