Motherboard manufacturer publishes specifications AMD Ryzen Embedded 5000 series
The suspected specifications of AMD’s unannounced Ryzen Embedded 5000 series have appeared. A Taiwanese manufacturer has announced a motherboard for those chips. The Ryzen Embedded series will get this generation of processors with up to twelve Zen 3 cores.
Taiwanese manufacturer Advantech publishes the information about the Ryzen Embedded 5000 series in conjunction with an X570 motherboard dedicated to those CPUs. The manufacturer mentions four different Ryzen Embedded 5000 processors, which have not yet been officially announced by AMD itself. In a press release, the Taiwanese company confirms that the Ryzen Embedded 5000 series is based on the Zen 3 architecture. The manufacturer mentions IPC improvements of nineteen percent, presumably compared to the current Ryzen Embedded V2000 series based on Zen 2.
According to the information from Advantech, AMD will come with a Ryzen Embedded 5950E, among other things. That will be the highest positioned model in the line-up. That chip gets twelve Zen 3 cores with a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz, 64MB L3 cache and a TDP of 105W. Below that is a 5900E with ten cores and speeds up to 3.7GHz, also with a 105W TDP. The 5800E and 5600E will have eight and six cores respectively, with TDPs of 100W and 65W and 32MB of L3 cache each.
The Advantech motherboard It also has an AM4 socket and X570 chipset and thus also supports AMD’s ‘regular’ Ryzen 5000 desktop processors, such as the Ryzen 9 5950X with sixteen cores. The board also has two 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet connections and two connections for Gigabit Ethernet. The motherboard also has eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectors, four USB 3.0 connectors, and three USB 2.0 ports. Remote access is also possible via Advantech DeviceOn.
AMD hasn’t released any new Ryzen Embedded processors in a while. The current Ryzen Embedded V2000 series dates from 2020 and is still based on the Zen 2 architecture. These Ryzen Embedded chips are, as the name suggests, intended for embedded systems such as thin clients, mini PCs, and edge computing systems such as IoT devices. The processors are therefore mainly intended for pre-built devices and OEMs.
