Amazon adds additional song information to Music service
Amazon has expanded its Music service with X-Ray, a service that adds extra information to music tracks. The functionality was already in Amazon’s video service and is comparable to Spotify’s Genius.
X-Ray will be available worldwide, but additional information will be shown for US and UK users with a number of popular songs, the company said in a statement that has been sent to various media, including Engadget . Amazon did not disclose exactly which numbers it concerns.
With the new functionality, Amazon Music users get additional information about music tracks they play. This could include who wrote the song, what it is about, and other additional trivia. That information is not visible with all songs, but Amazon hopes to provide X-Ray with more references in the coming period.
The feature is similar to Spotify’s Genius, which provides both the lyrics and background information of the track being played.
