The release of the game CrossfireX has been delayed until next year. The makers indicate that the covid-19 situation is the cause of this. CrossfireX will be an exclusive title for Xbox One and Series S and X, although the game will also be released on PC.

In a message on Twitter , the makers indicate that after much thought, the postponement has been decided, pointing to ‘the challenges that the developer Smilegate is facing due to covid-19’. The postponement of the release will allow the team to bring the Crossfire experience to consoles as intended. More details are not shared, but the creators say they will provide more information in the future.

The multiplayer part of CrossfireX, which will be free to play, is being developed by the Korean company Smilegate. This developer also has a role in making the single player part, although that part is mainly made by Remedy, the developer who is known for Control and Quantum Break. Previously , Smilegate told The Verge that it was looking for help building out the story side of the Crossfire franchise. In addition, the Korean studio ended up with Remedy.

CrossfireX is based on the first person shooter Crossfire, which is especially popular in South Korea and China, where the game was released in 2007 and 2008 respectively. CrossfireX will be optimized for the Xbox Series X and S, with Microsoft talking about ‘more stable frame rates of up to 120fps’ on the game page of the game .
