WindowsCentral: next version of Windows coming in 2024
Microsoft plans to release a major release of the Windows operating system every three years. That is what WindowsCentral states after speaking to a few sources. The next release of Windows would appear in 2024 and will be internally codenamed Next Valley.
Microsoft wants according to the editors of WindowsCentral From 2023, introduce new features every three months through interim updates for versions of Windows it currently sells. Plans for the planned Sun Valley 3 update for Windows 11 have reportedly been scrapped. The features that would come with this version will appear at later scheduled times, according to WindowsCentral.
The new development cycle has been given the name Moments and will start according to WindowsCentral as soon as Windows 11 version 22H2, better known internally as Sun Valley 2, is out. Version 22H2 went into release-to-manufacturing status in May and is expected to be released in September. The update is currently available as a preview build. Microsoft will add features to Windows 11 through this update that were not ready for the official OS release in October 2021.
