Facebook will remove podcasts from its platform from June 3

Facebook will stop its podcast service a year after its introduction. Starting this week, users will not be able to post new podcasts and after June 3, the social medium will start removing podcasts.

In addition to phasing out podcasts from June 3, Facebook will stop the Soundbites short audio service and the audio hub sometime in the coming weeks. The subsidiary brand of Meta integrates Live Audio Rooms into Facebook Live.

Facebook reports stopping podcasts to partners and leave it to publishers how they communicate this to users. The company told Bloomberg that it is “continuously evaluating features to focus on meaningful experiences.”

Just a year ago, Facebook introduced several podcast features, but since then the company has shifted its focus to the metaverse, and its parent company faces stiff competition from TikTok, which it is trying to answer with its short video Reels feature.
