Microsoft plans to release its office software Office 16 in the second half of 2015. The company said so during a conference. In addition, the version of Office for Android tablets should be released in a few weeks.

Microsoft is now testing Office 16 internally and is aiming for a release in the last six months of 2015, although Microsoft does not give an exact date or even month, ZDNet writes. The schedule doesn’t come as a surprise: it was already clear that Office 16 should be released next year and it’s also obvious, because the previous version came out in October 2012 and Microsoft usually releases a new version every few years.

Little is known about new features or appearance changes in the next version of Office, but at least it would have a dark color scheme and an assistant like Clippy was in previous Office versions. The first variant of Office now ready for release, according to ZDNet sources, is for Android tablets: Microsoft plans to release it next month; a variant for iPad came out earlier.
