Facebook releases dark mode for Android test version of Instagram
Facebook has added a dark mode to the beta version of the Instagram app for Android. The mode is available to users running the new version of Instagram with Android 10 or One UI from Samsung. The update is not yet available in the Play Store.
Instagram dark mode works through Android 10 and One UI system settings. If dark mode is turned on through the system settings of these operating systems, Instagram will be displayed in the dark. This concerns a dark mode especially for AMOLED screens, where some parts of the app are completely black. Many Google apps, including Gmail, include a dark gray dark mode.
Instagram dark mode was introduced in version 114.0.0.0.24 of the Instagram app. This is not yet available for download in the Play Store at the time of writing. There is, however, an .apk file available via APKMirror.
Dark modes are being used by more and more users. Today, a dark mode is a standard part of Android 10, iOS 13 and One UI. Developers are also increasingly adding a dark mode to their applications. For example, Facebook is currently working on dark modes for WhatsApp, Messenger and the Facebook app.
