iPhone 12 design rumors: what will the iPhone 12 look like?
It will probably be announced sometime in October: the iPhone 12. And as the date of the iPhone 12 event approaches, the rumor machine is running at full speed. For example, there is a lot of speculation about the iPhone 12 design. Apple’s latest iPhone would get a pretty drastic redesign. What the iPhone 12 looks like? You can expect this!
iPhone 12 design: different from before
The iPhone X appeared in 2017, and it had a completely different design than all previous iPhones: all screen, without a home button. At the top a notch in the screen for the camera module. With the iPhones that appeared after that, Apple stayed true to this design.
With the iPhone 12, the front will continue to look the same, although with the smallest version the notch may be slightly smaller. Nevertheless, the iPhone 12 will soon be clearly distinguishable from its predecessors: it will have flat and robust sides, very different from the sloping edges of previous years. With this, Apple is implementing the same development with the iPhones as with the iPads: the iPad Pro 2020 and the iPad Air 2020 also have such a flat edge.
iPhone 12 format
We keep talking about the iPhone 12 , but in fact there are four. Two entry-level models and two more luxurious variants:
- 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro
- 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max
This means that a few things will also change in terms of formats. In previous years, the smallest model had a screen diagonal of 5.8 inches. The iPhone 12 mini is really mini. And the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest iPhone ever at 6.7-inches.
Colors
We expect the entry-level models – the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini – to be available in an exuberant color palette. This was also the case with the entry-level models of recent years, the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 . The XR came in black, white, red, yellow, blue, and coral. The 11 in black, white, red, yellow, purple and green. For the iPhone 12, it remains to be seen: black, white and red seem to be there anyway. Perhaps Apple will match the other colors with the new iPad Air 2020: then it will be green, sky blue and rose gold.
For the more luxurious models – the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max – Apple probably uses more classic colors. Gold, space gray and silver are almost certainly included. Last year, the top model iPhone was also available in midnight green. It looks like that color will expire this year and will be followed by navy blue .

It is not yet clear when the iPhone 12 will appear. The unveiling will probably take place in mid-October – the invitations to an Apple event can no longer take very long.
