Microsoft has provided its speech and information service Cortana with new functionality. At the start of the day, users receive an overview with relevant information and the service also makes recommendations for applications and concerts.

The new features will be rolled out to users of Cortana on Windows Phone this week, according to Microsoft. New is something that the company calls Daily Glance: an overview with information that the user is presented with at the start of the day. Among other things, the first appointment of the day, the weather and the expected travel time to work or appointment are shown.

In addition, Cortana now makes recommendations for nearby concerts that the user may be interested in. Search history on the Bing search engine is used to gauge interest. Recommendations are also made in the field of applications. Cortana can make relevant recommendations based on the user’s location, according to Microsoft.

Finally, Microsoft has built in a flight tracking feature. If a user searches multiple times on a particular flight, Cortana asks if it should be saved so that it can be easily tracked.
