Android version of Rollercoaster Tycoon Mobile comes out
Atari has placed the Android version of Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile in the Play Store. The game is free, but users can purchase virtual currency to redeem in-game waiting times. That was a major source of annoyance in the – initially paid – iOS version.
Games maker Atari published the game on the Play Store on Thursday night. The game is free, unlike the iOS version at its release. It initially cost 2.70 euros, which brought the game to a lot of criticism: the game was also equipped with microtransactions. Players complained that in addition to having to pay for the game, they were also enticed to buy in-game currency. The iOS version is now also free.
The in-game purchases are also present in the Android version: players can buy tickets, which are necessary for some transactions and can be used to buy off waiting times in the game. Players have to wait for some time before an attraction or food tent is built in the game. Players can also purchase in-game currency needed to purchase attractions using real money.
An all-new Rollercoaster Tycoon for PC will be released early next year; that version will not offer microtransactions, Atari promises.
