HP Introduces Elitebook Dragonfly 2-in-1 Weighing Less Than One Pound
HP is coming with a 2-in-1 laptop that weighs less than a kilogram in certain configurations. In addition, HP advertises a battery life of 24 hours. The laptop will be released in November and has a starting price of 1571 euros.
The Elitebook Dragonfly has a screen size of 13.3″ with a relative screen size of 86 percent. The laptop has two screen options, including a 4k screen with support for HDR and a brightness of 550 cd/m². The Dragonfly can also be equipped with a full-HD display with Sure View G3 privacy mode that makes the display unreadable to viewers not directly in front of the display.The full-HD display has an advertised brightness of 1000 cd/m².
The Dragonfly would also have a battery life of 24.5 hours. According to HP, this battery life is feasible on a model with ‘Core i5, 8GB ram, an SSD of 128GB, no Wwan and a full-HD screen’. The Dragonfly will also be equipped with an infrared camera with support for Windows Hello and a fingerprint sensor.
The Elitebook Dragonfly can be equipped with a modem for 4G and supports the Wi-Fi 6 standard. The Dragonfly includes an eighth-generation Intel Core processor and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. Next to the keyboard are four speakers from Bang & Olufsen.
HP claims that the Dragonfly meets Intel’s “key Project Athena requirements.” This standard means that a laptop must have a battery life of at least 16 hours when watching videos. Such a laptop must also be able to be charged via USB-C, contain an NVME SSD of at least 256GB and have Thunderbolt 3. In addition, Project Athena laptops must be able to wake from sleep mode within a second and contain at least an i5 or i7 processor of the eighth generation or higher.
The Elitebook Dragonfly can be used as a 2-in-1 tablet. In tablet mode, the keyboard folds out and the device is operated via the touchscreen. Photos from HP also show a stylus. Whether this pen is included is unknown.
