Lexar Introduces CFast Memory Card With 510MB/s Read Speed
Lexar has announced new CompactFlash cards that would achieve maximum read speeds of up to 510MB/s. This makes the cards up to three times as fast as CompactFlash cards from competitors, the manufacturer claims.
The Lexar Professional cards comply with the CFast 2.0 standard, whereby the flash chips are addressed via a SATA interface. According to Lexar, new cards are able to achieve significantly higher speeds than comparable CompactFlash cards. The manufacturer claims ‘3400x’ read speeds of up to 510MB/s. However, the company does not mention write speeds, except that they are lower.
Lexar supplies the new CompactFlash cards with storage capacities of 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. According to the manufacturer, the cards are especially useful for high-resolution video recordings, including HD and UHD videos. The cards come with a 10-year warranty. Prices have not yet been released by the company.
