Pictures of Nexus 9 keyboard cover appear online

Images have surfaced showing a keyboard cover for HTC’s unannounced Nexus 9 tablet. The manufacturer applied for certification for the accessory, which makes an announcement seem plausible in the near future.

The Chinese edition of VR-Zone noticed the photos at the Natural Communications Commission, a Chinese watchdog that deals with the telecom market, among other things. The images show a keyboard cover from HTC, which is reportedly intended for the Nexus 9, a still unannounced tablet. According to Android Police, the model number UG0B shown corresponds to information that they previously received.

Earlier, Android Police also announced that the keyboard cover has bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the tablet. Furthermore, a 450mAh battery would be built in to power the keyboard. For a physical connection between tablet and cover, there would be a hinge on which the accessory can be attached.

One of the photos shows two variants of the keyboard cover. It is likely that HTC will choose one of them to eventually put in the shops, but it is still unclear what the exact plans are. You will probably have to pay extra for the accessory.

HTC has been rumored to be working on an 8.9″ tablet under the codename Volantis for some time. The company would like to release it in the Nexus program. Google already accidentally showed the tablet on its website, while Nvidia revealed that the Nexus 9 will be released in the third quarter and will have a Tegra K1 soc.The Nexus 9 will be the first tablet in years to be released by HTC.
