Borderlands 3 players experience performance issues on PC and consoles
Borderlands 3 suffers from performance issues and bugs, according to players. Both the PC and console versions of the game suffer from frame drops and glitches. In addition, several users report losing save files due to a bug.
Borderlands 3 came out last week and received mostly positive reviews from critics. The PC and console versions of the game appear to have the necessary problems. For example, the PC version shows significant performance issues according to some users. For example, a user reports that he often experiences frame drops, even if he lowers the graphics settings to the relatively low preset at 1080p. The user does claim to own a high-end system. Another player reports that the game stutters on several occasions. Furthermore, several users report that they have lost their progression in the game due to a bug in the game.
Also the console versions of Borderlands 3 would not be free of performance issues. According to Digital Foundry, the frame rate on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X often falls below 60 frames per second. The site recommends that players play the game in ‘resolution mode’. This fixes the frame rate at 30fps. This would fix the hiccups.
The PC version of Borderlands 3 is available exclusively through the Epic Games Store for a limited time. This store doesn’t offer user reviews yet and doesn’t have a forum, causing players to flood the Borderlands 2 forum on Steam with complaints. According to Gearbox, Borderlands 3 is, despite the temporary deal with Epic, a ‘huge success’. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford reports that the number of concurrent PC players on release day was twice as high as when Borderlands 2 was released.
Gearbox late via Twitter let users know that the developer is aware of the issues and that they are working on a fix.
