New Windows 9 screenshots show notification window
New screenshots have appeared that are said to be from an early version of the upcoming Technical Preview of Windows 9. The screenshots show that the taskbar gets a number of extra buttons and the new start menu and notification window are visible.
The twenty screenshots were published by the German tech site Computer Base. The screenshots are said to be from Technical Preview with build number 9834. In the taskbar are two new icons designed in the Modern UI style. The first presumably refers to a search function, while the second icon appears to give access to virtual desktops. There is also a notification window in the right corner. Rumors about the arrival of a notification center have been circulating for some time.
The recurring Start menu shows a “split” menu that shows both Modern UI apps and a more traditional listing of installed software. However, the dynamic live tiles seem to have disappeared from the start menu, according to Computer Base, because the OS runs on a PC without a touchscreen.
In the screenshots, the Modern UI Store application is also visible in a separate window on the desktop, where various ‘app commands’ can also be made visible in the window bar. The Technical Preview of Windows 9, also known as Threshold, is expected to be released late this month or early October.
