The stable Android version of Google Chrome gets an integrated RSS reader. Users can follow and view RSS feeds through the mobile web browser. The feature will be available later for the iOS and desktop versions of Chrome.

A Chrome Director of Engineering reports on Twitter that the RSS feed tracking feature is now incorporated into the stable Android version of Chrome. Users can choose websites to follow through the feature, and then view the RSS feeds from those websites on the new tab page of the Android web browser.

Users can follow websites by clicking on the three ‘dot’ menu and pressing the ‘follow’ button at the bottom of that menu. Users can view the feed when they open a new tab. The RSS feed is next to the ‘for you’ tab with recommended articles.

The feature is currently only enabled by default for a limited number of users. Chrome users who don’t see the feature yet can enable it at chrome://flags/#web-feed/. This requires Chrome 94 for Android or newer. According to Porter Felt Google is currently working on an iOS version of the feature. A desktop version is also planned, but will have to wait ‘a little longer’.
