Sony: Playstation 3 outsells Xbox 360 in Europe
Sony released some statistics on the use of the Playstation Network and the sales of the Playstation 3 and games during the Playstation Day event in London on Tuesday. The PS3 would have sold better than the Xbox 360.
Sony figures show that the Playstation 3 has sold better in Europe than the Xbox 360, despite the fact that the console from Microsoft was put on the market earlier. According to Sony state the counter currently at 5 million units. In order to get the counter even higher, the Playstation 3 will be promoted as a ‘multi-faceted interactive entertainment system’ in the coming year. The company also announced that 12 million Playstation Portables and 48 million Playstation 2s have been sold in Europe.
The Playstation Network currently has more than 3.2 million registered users, who have something 57 million times so far downloaded. Those downloads also include Singstar songs downloaded from the Playstation Store; according to Sony, every Singstar game sold has purchased an average of 6.3 songs. In addition, 1.4 million gamers are playing the PS3 launch games ‘Resistance: Fall of Men’, while ‘Motorstorm’, also a launch game, has sold 3 million times.
