Google puts Gmail dark mode live for first users
Google has provided the Gmail app on Android with a dark mode. It will gradually become available to all users. The dark interface is in keeping with the dark theme that Google introduced with Android 10.
Dark Mode Android 10
Dark mode is in the latest version of the app. This version can be found in the Play Store. The update is also available through APK Mirror. This is an update on the server side of Google. So the option is not yet available to everyone, even if users are running the latest version of Gmail.
Users who have dark mode for Gmail can find the option under ‘settings > general settings > theme’. Reddit user careslol has also found a way to manually set dark mode, though it requires root access. Google has also added a dark mode to Android in version 10. In addition, several Google apps will be provided with a dark mode.
The Gmail app had already included a kind of dark mode for some time. However, this was a work-in-progress version, which only darkened the settings screen. The main screen and sidebar remained white in that version.
