Microsoft adds new Auto HDR features to Windows 11
Microsoft comes with new features for Auto HDR in Windows 11. Users can use it to adjust the HDR intensity, among other things. This feature will be integrated into the latest versions of Xbox Game Bar, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for Windows.
Microsoft writes in a blog post that users can now use the intensity slider to set how bright and ‘vibrant’ the HDR display in games should be. Moving the slider all the way to the left corresponds to sdt rendering, Microsoft says. Furthermore, the Auto HDR function only works in games that do not support HDR by default and the set Auto HDR intensity is saved per game. Users can find the intensity slider in the Xbox Game Bar settings, which can be accessed by pressing the Windows key and ‘G’. Users can also enable and disable Auto HDR itself via a checkbox there.
In addition, Microsoft is introducing some new beta features for Auto HDR in Windows 11. They are available in the most recent Windows Insider builds and will be available to all users at a later date. For example, Auto HDR is added for systems with multiple video cards via SLI or CrossFire in DirectX 12 games. Users can now also disable Auto HDR notifications.
Auto HDR was introduced last year for Windows 11 systems. The feature was already in the Xbox Series consoles before that. The feature adds HDR to games that do not support it by default. The feature is not available for Windows 10.
