Microsoft shows new version of To Do app that looks more like Wunderlist
Microsoft is revamping its To Do app. The new version gets a different design and some changes that make it more like Wunderlist. Microsoft acquired the company behind that app in 2015. In the new version, users can change the background per list.
In the announcement of the revamped To Do app, Microsoft looks back at what has changed since the acquisition of Wunderlist. The new version of the application will have a different interface; with customizable colors and backgrounds per list. One such backdrop is the television tower in Berlin, an image that was also used for the original Wunderlist.
Microsoft also gives the To Do list smart lists, a feature that was also included in Wunderlist. A new feature in To Do is My Day, a list of suggested tasks to do on a given day. This list is refreshed daily.
The new version of To Do is also promoted by Microsoft on the Wunderlist website. There, Microsoft provides directions for moving from Wunderlist to To Do. Microsoft’s To Do app is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. All versions have a dark mode, but it is not yet available with the iOS version. However, according to Microsoft, that will come soon.
In 2015, Microsoft acquired the company behind Wunderlist. Two years later, the software giant announced that it was discontinuing Wunderlist and in favor of its own To Do app. Wunderlist is still available, but Microsoft previously indicated that the app would disappear once the functionality is integrated into To Do.
The timing of the announcement of the new To Do version is striking. Wunderlist founder Christian Reber said Friday that he wants to buy Wunderlist back from Microsoft. It is not known whether he is actually in talks with the Windows maker. Whether Reber was aware of the announcement of the new To Do version is not clear.
