Gigabyte shows PhD water coolers with built-in LCD and RGB lighting

Gigabyte has released three new PhD water coolers in the Aorus series during the IFA. The coolers are available in three variants. According to Gigabyte, the PhD students will be ‘soon’ on the market for an as yet unknown price.

The Aorus Liquid Coolers are Gigabyte’s first PhD coolers. Earlier this year, the manufacturer released an air cooler in the Aorus series: the ATC800. The coolers come in 240, 280 and 360mm variants, and are based on Asetek’s designs. The PhD students support all recent Intel and AMD sockets. TR4 is also supported, but a mounting bracket for this socket is not included as standard.

The Aorus Liquid Coolers have a round finished screen of 60×60 millimeters with a resolution of 320×320 pixels. This LCD displays data about the connected PC, including CPU temperatures and fan speeds. In addition, the screen can display its own images and text. Furthermore, both the pump and the supplied fans are decorated with RGB lighting. These RGB LEDs can be controlled via Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion 2.0 software.

Gigabyte claims that the included fans produce a maximum of 39.5dBA of noise at a speed of about 2500rpm. The fans move about eighteen cubic meters of air per minute and are expected to last about seventy thousand hours. This corresponds to the service life of other fans with so-called ball bearings.

Gigabyte indicates that the Aorus Liquid Coolers are ready for release and will go on sale shortly. An exact release date and price have not yet been announced.
